EdChoice Kentucky Announces Leadership Transition, Prepares for Consequential Legislative Session

August 8, 2023

FRANKFORT, Ky. (August 8, 2023) – The Board of EdChoice Kentucky recently elected Moe Lundrigan, former executive director of the Christian Academy School System, as President. Lundrigan succeeds Andrew Vandiver, who led the organization for several years in its mission to bring meaningful school choice policies to support Kentucky students.

“I’ve seen the lifechanging impact of education firsthand. Every Kentucky student should have the ability to succeed in a learning environment as unique as they are, regardless of their family’s finances. School choice is helping kids in states across the country succeed—including in every one of our neighboring states,” said EdChoice Kentucky President Moe Lundrigan. “EdChoice Kentucky is focused on the next legislative session where we’ll work with parents, legislators and advocates to pass a school choice constitutional amendment and put Kentucky on a path to helping every student succeed.”

In 2023, a key House committee approved the Students First Constitutional Amendment that would have given Kentucky voters the opportunity to write school choice into our Commonwealth’s foundational document. Leaders in the General Assembly have signaled that passing a school choice constitutional amendment will be a top priority next year.

The Board also elected Deana Paradis, Louisville Collegiate School’s chief financial officer, as Treasurer. Paradis has been with the school since 2014, and she was named Best in Finance by Louisville Business First in 2021.

“I’m so glad to be part of EdChoice Kentucky as we help every student receive an education that fits their needs,” said Deana Paradis, EdChoice Kentucky Treasurer. “It’s time to bring real educational choice to families in Kentucky.”

Charles Leis, who will continue to serve as Chair of the Board, said, “Moe and Deana are incredible champions for Kentucky’s students, and I’m proud to have them lead the next chapter of EdChoice Kentucky. We are all grateful to Andrew Vandiver for his years as president, and we will continue to build on his successes.”

Andrew Vandiver will continue to serve on the EdChoice Kentucky Board. Gary Houchens, Ph.D. will continue to serve as the Board’s Secretary. For more details about EdChoice Kentucky and the school choice movement, visit EdChoiceKY.com.
