Poll: Majority of Kentuckians Support School Choice Constitutional Amendment

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Jan. 26, 2023) – Kentuckians across ages, genders and regions support an amendment enshrining school choice opportunities into the Commonwealth’s constitution, according to a Mason-Dixon poll EdChoice Kentucky released today.
 
The poll found that 54% of registered Kentucky voters would support an amendment to Kentucky’s constitution that would permit the use of public funds to allow parents to choose the learning environment best suited for their children, whether it is a public or nonpublic school. Only 35% would oppose.
 
Nearly 75% of Republicans would vote in favor of a student-first constitutional amendment. Among Kentucky’s independents, 59% are in support. Notably, the strongest regional enthusiasm came from communities outside of the big cities in Eastern and Western Kentucky.
